What does the Bible say about Salvation?

This may be the most important question that is ever asked to you. Are you saved? Are you sure you will go to heaven when you die?

The Bible tells us there is only one way to get to heaven. Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus and he told him the secret. He said "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." (John 3:3) In the Bible God tells us how we can be born again

The first question is usually: Why do we need to be born again? In Romans 3:23 we have the answer. It says "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.", and in Isaiah 53:9 it says "Your sins have separated you from God". Because of our sins we have become separated from God, and Romans 6:23 tells us "The wages of sin is death". So the first thing you must do is admit that you have sinned.

But there is GOOD NEWS we do not have to be separated from God. The rest of Romans 6:23 says ",but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". You see God doesn't want anyone to perish (spend eternity away from Him in hell), but he desires everyone to come to repentance (John 3:17). Jesus said "But unless you repent you too will all perish" (Luke 13:5). The second thing you must do is be willing to turn from sin (repent).

In John 3:16 it tells us "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life". Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". In Romans 5:8 it says "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us". In Hebrews 9:22 it states "In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness". God allowed His only Son to die in our place and shed His blood for the forgiveness of our sins. In Romans 10:9-11 it says "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the scripture says "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." And in verse 13 it says "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" . The third thing you must do is believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead.

The forth thing to do is through prayer, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal savior.

An example of what to pray:

Dear God, I realize that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. Forgive me for my sins. I believe that Jesus shed his blood and died for my sins. I am willing to turn from my sins, and I invite Jesus into my heart as my personal savior.

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become the children of God" (John 1:12).

"Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things are become new". (II Cor. 5:17)

If you have received Christ as your personal savior, there are some things you should do:

1. Read your bible every day.

"Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm  119:105)

2. Talk to God in prayer everyday.

    "Pray continually" (I Thes. 5:17)

3. Be baptized.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit" (Mat. 28:19).

4. Attend Church.

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one other and all the more as you see the day approaching" (Heb. 10:25).

5. Tell others what has happened.

"The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah (that is the Christ"" (John 1:41)

"Jesus said Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how the Lord has had mercy on you" (Mark 5:19)

6. Public confession.

"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven" (Mat. 10:32).
